The long way home

A familiar path can still lead somewhere new.

A different turn

A walk does not need a destination to be useful. Choose the smaller road, the path beside the trees, or the turn you usually pass. Familiar places change when you stop treating them as a route to somewhere else.

Leave room to notice

Put your phone away for the first ten minutes. Listen for a sound you cannot name. Look for the boundary between shade and sunlight. These are small ways to arrive in a place rather than simply move through it.

Make it a habit

Try adding one short detour to a regular walk. Keep it simple enough that you can repeat it on an ordinary day. There is no distance to achieve and nothing to measure. The point is to leave a little room for discovery.
